2011 custom built 8.6m barge, powered by a 115hp 4st Yamaha outboard,(does 60kph).
Full alloy trailer. 3 x 100lt removable certified fuel tanks. Drop down front for easy loading.
With 2 quad bikes,4 people and camping gear for a week it cruses easily at 45km/h getting 2km to the litre of fuel.
The hull is built from 3mm marine grade scaffold planks, giving it a double skinned hull (3mm plate-32mm bridged gap then another 3mm plate). The sides and bottom are all separately sealed and tested sections for floatation. This adds up to be super strong, flexible, and yet the whole unit trailer motor included weighs less than 1800kg, easily towed behind most 4wds.
This boat was made to max towing requirements so no permits are required to tow it, it has been towed from Cairns to Weipa.
